INTAKES:

There are two major admission intakes in Australia, i.e. February and July Intakes, during which international students can send their prospective applications to their chosen university. The February intake witnesses a large number of applications and is considered as the primary admission intake in Australia. On the other hand, the July intake is open for a fewer number of courses and involves a limited number of students. But that’s not only the case, we can have Australian universities that have formulated different admission intakes for vocational courses and these intakes open in January, May or July. Moreover, independent intakes, as well as their duration or month, entirely depends on the university and its prospective course. So regular scanning of the specific educational provider can be fruitful to select the best option for intakes.

So what about an international student visa??

Only students who have enrolled in full-time study can apply for a student visa, with the exception of Doctoral (PhD) students waiting for their thesis to be marked.

It is most important to show the applicants have a genuine study purpose and are realistic about their return back to their native land after the completion of their studies. That’s what we refer to as the GENUINE TEMPORARY ENTRANT (GTE). Department of Immigration and Border Protection while granting a student visa considers various factors and some requirements for GTE includes the circumstances in the applicant’s home country, the applicant’s potential circumstances in Australia, the applicant’s immigration history, the value of the course to the applicant’s future, any other matter relevant to the applicant’s intention to stay temporarily, etc. Hence, it’s all about being sincere and submitting realistic, authorized, and genuine documents with clear purpose, knowledge about the course, college, future plan, etc. explaining in a simple but logical reasoning to what we called STATEMENT OF PURPOSE (SOP).

Apart from strong GTE , applicants must hold a good character and should not have any previous record of involvement in crime or deport from any country.

The health of overseas students studying in Australia is important and protects the Australian community from public health and safety risks, particularly active tuberculosis. So if you have disease that is considered threat to public health or a danger to the Australian community or likely to result in significant health care and community service costs to the Australian community or likely to require health care and community services that would limit the access of Australian citizens and permanent residents to those services already in short supply etc., you become unfit for visa.

Adequate health insurance is a mandatory visa condition which requires evidence of Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) to demonstrate that the student is adequately insured. Students will need to provide details of their OSHC policy in their visa application. International students have the right to choose their OSHC provider, although their education provider may make specific recommendations to applicants because they have negotiated an arrangement with a particular insurer.

WORK HOURS:

International students with valid student visas are allowed to work for up to 20 hours a week when college is going on but there are no limitations on work hours during breaks or vacations. One will be paid a minimum of $ 18.93 per hour.

POST STUDY WORK VISA:

International students can get a post study work visa as per 485. There are possibilities to increase the stay period for masters by coursework graduates, on a permanent basis and post study work can last up to 5 years.  This provision also increases the stay period for Temporary Graduate visa applicants from VET sector graduates onshore to 24 months, on a temporary basis.
