COUNSELING

Counseling is important for students who are considering studying abroad for several reasons:

  • Information and Guidance: Studying abroad can be a complex process with many decisions to make and tasks to complete. A counselor can provide you with accurate information and guidance to help you navigate the process.
  • Cultural Awareness: Studying abroad involves adjusting to a new cultural environment. A counselor can help you understand and prepare for the cultural differences you may encounter, such as differences in communication styles, social norms, and daily customs.
  • Academic Advising: Academic advising is a crucial aspect of studying abroad, as it helps students make informed decisions about their academic plans. A counselor can help students understand the academic requirements for studying abroad and the courses and programs available in their field of study. They can provide information about credit transfer and help students determine how their study abroad experience will impact their overall academic plan and degree requirements.
  • Financial planning: Studying abroad can be expensive, and financial planning is an important aspect of the process. A counselor can help students understand the costs involved in studying abroad, including tuition and fees, housing, travel, and living expenses. They can also provide information about scholarships, grants, and other funding opportunities that can help offset the costs of studying abroad. In addition, a counselor can help students understand how to manage their finances while they are abroad and provide tips on budgeting and saving money. They can also assist with exchanging currency and finding banks and ATMs in their host country.

Thereby, counseling can help you make informed decisions and have a successful and fulfilling study abroad experience.
