STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

INTRODUCTION: I am Name, a Nepalese citizen by birth having Nepalese citizenship number XXX and Nepalese passport number XXX, permanent resident of XXX. I am the youngest son of the family born to father Mr XXX and mother Mrs XXX.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND: I completed my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Information Technology in XXX from XXX with XXX. My higher secondary education was from XXX with XXX and schooling from XXX with XXX was completed in XXX. I took my PTE examinations on  XXX  and got an overall score of XXX  (Listening- XX, Reading- XX, Speaking- XX and Writing- XX).

WHY MASTERS IN DATA ANALYTICS? : To find the solution to a problem or provide an answer to a question, a data analyst gathers, purifies, and analyzes data sets. Data analysis is all about identifying the data you want to analyze, collecting the data, cleaning the data in preparation for analysis, analyzing the data and interpreting the results of the analysis. Predictive analytics generates future projections, diagnostic analysis explains why something occurred, descriptive analysis explains what happened, and prescriptive analysis generates recommendations for what to do. The world of data is going to be the future backbone for AI and IT and I believe that’s the reason I am motivated to join Masters in Data Analytics. I can enter a variety of businesses through data analytics, including business, finance, travel banking, and information technology. Every organization, from technology start-ups to global corporations, is impacted by big data and analytics. With the help of a Master of Data Analytics (MDA), I will learn how to analyze vast amounts of organized and unstructured data, generate insights, and apply the information to invent and develop game-changing business solutions. This course provides me with :Learn to solve challenges in the real world by coming up with original, data-driven solutions, Advance my learning related to machine and Artificial Intelligence, Help me solve real world problems, Get a rewarding job.

CORE UNITS: SHORTLY MENTION ABOUT THE SUBJECTS.

WHY NOT NEPAL: Unlike other educational sectors, I believe the technology related courses/curriculum is the least developed one in Nepal which lacks both well trained tutors and facilities to enhance learning and teaching facilities. In reality check the most disappointing expect of the Nepalese education system is no proper management of educational institutions which are regulated by universities along with no exchange programs and of course my type of course requires the regular update in field of communication which unfortunately cannot be afforded by universities in Nepal due to the low separation of budget from Government. No university or institution in Nepal offers a distinct graduate degree in data analytics; however the majority of universities offer some data analytics courses as part of their graduate engineering or information technology programs. Islington College, for instance, offers an MSc. Graduate courses in IT and Applied Security include modules on “Programming for Data Analytics,” “Data Warehousing and Big Data,” and “Data Analysis and Visualization.”

WHY AUSTRALIA AND NOT OTHER COUNTRIES: The USA is one of the top destinations for international students but I didn’t choose the USA keeping the fact in mind that the requirements like TOFEL and GRE score for enrollment in better universities. In a similar way the exchange rate of the US dollar is Nrs 133 which is quite high. The colleges/universities like University of Chicago, Tuft University, Georgia State University, Louisiana State University whose entry requirements are quite high with tuition fee cost around 35000 to 50000 USD. In the UK, University of Warwick, London School of Economics, Imperial College London, University of Liverpool provides Masters in Data Analytics ranging the prices from 25000 to 35000 pounds yearly. The exchange rate is 1 pound equivalent to Nrs.162 with the living expense 1023 pounds per month. Processing takes a while for Canada. Just getting an offer letter takes more than three to four months. Furthermore, September marks Canada’s main intake, when a variety of courses are offered. It will be difficult to acclimate to those settings given Canada’s extremely harsh and chilly climate. Due to all these reasons I didn’t choose other countries but Australia based on affordable fee and living cost, suitable climate, multiple intakes, international student security and better education providers.

WHY MIT?? : The Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) has registered MIT as a higher education institution (TEQSA Provider Identification Number: 12138), and TEQSA has accredited MIT’s courses. The MIT Melbourne campus is the larger of the two campuses and is situated in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD at 288 La Trobe St, Melbourne, Victoria 3000. MIT offers first-rate classrooms and learning spaces, cutting-edge computer labs, networking studio labs, wireless internet, a large library with the most recent electronic information resources, a computer shop, a student lounge, a prayer room, campus security, first-aid facilities, career counseling, study support, and counseling, as well as other facilities and services. While I was going through the MIT website I came to know about XXX, Professor of Data analytics who holds a doctorate in advanced engineering systems with a focus on intelligent interaction technologies artificial intelligence, computer vision, data mining, and machine learning are some of his specialties. Such kind of transparency with regard to professors made me choose MIT. Further MIT has Industry Based Projects in the last year of Masters which helps in professional exposure and knowledge about the international market. Each project works through system specification, analysis, design, development, implementation, testing and troubleshooting. Its affordable fee along with World class education are other reasons for me to choose MIT.

MY FUTURE PLANS: My sole goal in traveling to Australia is to successfully complete my course while learning information and practical skills that will help me succeed in the networking industry. Companies such as Cloud Factory, F1 Soft , Deerwalk, and NCELL in Nepal have contributed significantly to the employment of experts in information technology, particularly those who specialize in data analysis. A new hire can expect a monthly compensation of roughly NRS 75,000 to 85,440 (https://www.paylab.com/np/), which will later rise by 10% as experience grows. When I return to Nepal, I intend to work as a marketing analyst for several national and international companies with a focus on information technology and AI. The duties of a marketing analyst include monitoring advertising expenditures, investigating customer behavior, and examining market trends and prospects. I will be responsible to analyzing sales funnels and customer intent, measuring performance of online and offline campaigns and reporting on marketing like leads, conversion rates, website traffic and social media engagement, track email campaign metrics (delivery, open, click-through rates), monitor budget distribution and performance of paid ad campaigns, conduct competitive research and analyze benchmarking data, recommend website and campaign optimizations, research and implement marketing tools to support our promotional projects (automation software, social media scheduling etc), work closely with sales and marketing teams to identify opportunities for new client acquisition and so on. I believe the way advertisements are increasing in the monetarized you tube channels can be good way to market the products. The proper analysis of these trends can be useful measure to promote the business.

INTENTIONS TO RETURN BACK TO NEPAL: My family, culture, property, friends and the opportunities back here in Nepal will drag me back in Nepal. The Australian qualification empowers me to get a job in my homeland after the completion of my intended course and start my professional as well as personal life working with a reputed IT company in Nepal, as there is high demand for IT roles in Nepal. While working in my homeland I will get a high social reputation that I can never buy with money in any part of the world.

Those XXX months were very educational and full of learning opportunities.I also have a passion for cooking & travelling and understanding different cultures of the world. All these elements have given me a broad outlook, with varying degrees of knowledge in a range of topics. I strongly believe that although some are not related directly, all these qualities will influence my work.

WHY BACHELOR OF HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT

I didn’t think that I will be studying Bachelor of Hospitality Management. Everyone else (my classmates and friends) were heading to be an engineer, nurse, doctor, or other mainstream graduation which is not my cup of tea.

I always wanted to travel the world, meet new people, learn about different cultures, food habits, etc. So, I found about this course, and it felt suitable because I will gain knowledge on how hospitality and tourism work. This study offers endless career options:

  • Working for retail, food industry, wholesale, hospitals, airlines, branded hotels, tourism industry,
  • Food technologist, food bloggers, food stylists and critics.
  • FOOD TRAVELLER, which is what I wish to take upon.

Food Travellers are usually food journalists who travel around celebrating cultural diversity through food and sharing first-hand local experiences.

As a food traveller, I will be able to learn something new with every mouthful, become more conscientious and adventurous. I will be able to write articles, interview locals. I am so looking forward to diving deeper in this – nothing better than learning through travel and food.

THE COURSE – BACHELOR OF HOSPITALITY

The Hospitality Management degree will provide me with an in-depth understanding of the structure and operation of the hospitality sector and related industries.

I will develop skills and knowledge in people management, service delivery, leadership, finance, and marketing, as well as identifying, understanding, and responding to the needs of clients.

As well as these industry-specific skills, I will develop a range of other skills that are valued by many employers. These include:

  • Analytical, critical, and problem-solving skills – through researching, evaluating, and presenting arguments and data.
  • Verbal communication skills – from group work and presentations
  • Written communication skills – from report and essay writing.
  • Negotiation and teamwork skills – through working both independently and on group projects.
  • The ability to network – through discussion and debate with student peers.
  • Leadership and delegation skills – gained through group work.
  • IT skills – through the collection, analysis, & presentation of information – spreadsheets & databases.

An important feature of the degree is an embedded 80-hour work-based placement program that provides industry-relevant experience and networking opportunities.

The course also provides graduates with in-depth knowledge to manage sustainability, WH&S issues, conflict, and diversity within the business.

STUDYING AT HOLMESGLEN

Holmesglen provides a highly supportive and conducive environment to study and grow. They pride themselves on making every student feel welcome.

Holmesglen offers excellence in teaching; the lecturers and trainers are fully qualified & experienced who are passionate about their discipline and education. They have professional experience in the industry and are abreast of contemporary developments in their fields.

The cookery and patisserie courses are available at WAVERLEY and MOORABBIN campuses. Both facilities include a large, fully equipped training kitchen, classrooms, lecture halls, computer facilities and a student lounge.

Another reason for choosing is that Holmesglen is one of the few institutions that feature two on-campus restaurants, Cilantro at Moorabbin campus and Zest at Waverley campus, as part of community. These restaurants offer training of students. Each venue is a wonderful representation of the Holmesglen experience. At both restaurants, student chefs and waiters get opportunity to serve the public for a variety of events. Cilantro and Zest give students an outlet to develop their skills and contribute to their learning, while under the supervision of the teaching staff.

WHY AUSTRALIA

Australia is the 3rd most popular student destination for international students. As a strong hold of quality education, Australian Hospitality programs are thoroughly developed to provide theoretical knowledge and impart practical skills required in delivering excellent services. The Hospitality and Tourism Industry is the third largest export earner for Australia. A career in the dynamic hospitality industry will offer you great career and opportunities to work within Australia and overseas. Hospitality careers are diverse, you can work in hotels, restaurants, bars and cafes, wine industry, operate as a franchise such as Subway, Boost Juice, Domino’s Pizza, cruise line industry or coordinate in major events and functions such as the Royal Show.

 WHY NOT HOME COUNTRY

Although Nepal is a beautiful country and has some good cooking schools like Nepal Cooking School,

International Hotel Training School, Kantipur Hotel Training Centre, the major problem felt here is focusing on

theoretical knowledge rather than practical skills and has less opportunity to apply it in real life situation.

Similarly, method of teaching is still the same as it used to be in old days, which I also experience at my current

education institution. The teaching style is not updated periodically.

After completing my recent internship, I found out that that I wasn’t doing real work. I was assigned small tasks only.I understand that the most valuable benefit of an internship is, of course, getting some work experience under your belt, which is why so many students are keen to have one or two added to their resume before they graduate.

Internships are also seen as a great way to get recruited and have a job waiting after you graduate – making a great impression on a company you want to work for during your internship can help skip the line when they start hiring fresh graduates. Getting an internship is also a tried-and-true method of getting your foot in the door.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

My family is happy to provide financial support for my further studies in Australia. My parents will bear the cost of my education, for which they have arranged an educational loan. The fee for initial English Study is XXX and Bachelor program per Semester(s) is XXX and total fee is XXX, and I consider myself extremely fortunate.

(ELLABORATE ABOUT INCOME SOURCE IN BRIEF ALONG WITH LOAN IF APPLICABLE)

Relevant paperwork has been submitted with the application.

VISA CONDITION

I am aware of Student Visa. This includes restriction in working for more than 40 hours per fortnight when the course is in session. There must be adequate maintenance of satisfactory attendance in the course i.e., 80% attendance should be maintained and course progress for each period as required by the education provider.

VISA HISTORY

I haven’t had a visa refusal for any other country, and I want to assure the visa office case officer that I will not overstay visa and that I will return before expiry of visa.

WHY WILL I RETURN TO HOME COUNTRY – Growing Popularity of Hospitality Industry in Nepal

Hospitality refers to a warm greeting and good reception of guests. In the hospitality industry, proper and pleasant welcoming of guests with available resources is the natural course to grow our business.

“Atithi Devo Bhava,” which translates to “guest is God” is a common term in Nepal. In our nation like Nepal, where tourism is one of the primary sources of revenue, the hospitality industry has bloomed.

How much did the pandemic affect the hospitality industry?

The year 2020 is referred to as a black year for tourism and hospitality as the pandemic restricted the movement of people. Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation initiated a new mission to boost the tourism and hospitality industry of Nepal. It was named ‘Visit Nepal 2020’. The main objective of visiting Nepal

2020 was to attract 20 million tourists at the end of 2020. However, it failed due to the increased case of COVID-19 which led to the nationwide lockdown. As cases of COVID-19 are decreasing as well as people being aware of how to prevent the virus from spreading, the nationwide lockdown was lifted not too long ago. The hospitality industry is steadily gaining its ground after the year-long knockout from the pandemic. In 2021, Nepal attracted 150,962 tourists it is the lowest number since 1977.

How is hospitality growing in Nepal?

The employment rate is increasing every year, low unemployment rates imply that more consumers have jobs. and can afford the luxuries of travel and other leisure activities, which is contributing to the hospitality industry. The unemployment rate touched 4.4% in 2020 due to the pandemic. According to projections, the unemployment rate will be about 2.60 percent in 2023.

Nepal also has many things to offer, from religious tourism to ethnic tourism in our country we have more than 50 tourist destinations, possessing 8 of the 10 highest mountains in the world, and various cultures of Nepal’s 125 distinct ethnic groups. These elasticities many options for people around the world to visit Nepal. People interested only to learn newculture can travel to Nepal or individuals who love nature can also visit Nepal.

What is Hotel Association Nepal (HAN)’s contribution?

Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) is the leading representative organization in the hospitality industry, representing more than 300 hotels, resorts, and guesthouses of Nepal. HAN is the official voice of Nepal’s hoteliers that safeguards their lawful interests and promotes unity and co-operation among its members.

HAN presented “White Paper on Tourism” on its golden jubilee summarising the development of hotel industry in Nepal. The focus is on how the industry in growing and at the same time it is constrained by limited infrastructure. The country needs more hotels, hotels, may be an additional airport because the Kathmandu airport simply cannot handle additional flights and so is the case of road network. The aim is to expand and may new developments.

Upon returning to Nepal, after completing my studies, I will have a big pool of opportunities to work with some of the great hospitality establishments in Nepal, ranging from 2-star to 5-star standard, like – Hyatt Regency, The Soaltee Kathmandu, Radisson Hotel, Kathmandu Marriot Hotel etc. With a recognised qualification from Australia, I will be able to join the hotel/hospitality industry. Starting  salaries in Nepal range from 26,900 NPR per month (minimum salary) to 79,200 NPR per month (maximum salary). The median salary is 49,700 NPR per month, which means that half (50%) of people working as Chef(s) are earning less than 49,700 NPR while the other half are earning more than 49,700 NPR. The median represents the middle salary value.

WHY I MEET GTE CRITERIA

I provide following information in support of my claim that I have strong incentives to return to Nepal after completion of my studies at Holmesglen Institute. I can assure you that I am a genuine temporary entrant and have no intention to use the student visa to maintain my residence in Australia. My sole intention for applying

for a student visa is to study and return upon completion– Consideration must be given to my personal ties to the home country and these circumstances would serve as a significant incentive to return to home county.

  • I have my parents and my grandparent. Leaving home to study abroad is not like a field trip or sleep over; I will be gone for a considerable period. It will be difficult for me to be away from my family, and I will return to them. I will be their only support as they grow older.
  • Assets in home country – Traditionally, the assets are inherited by children, therefore, I will have responsibility to take care of assets inherited. My parents would like to see me settle down in Nepal.
  • Economic Circumstances – As I have declared that I wish to work in the hospitality industry in Nepal after completion of course, I will have large pool of opportunities within both Govt and Private sectors – TravelLine, Hyatt Regency, Marriot, Chaudhary Group, Nepal Holiday Makers, Basera Boutique.
  • Economic Benefit – Qualified and experienced hospitality workers are paid a decent salary (refer to snapshot below). The opportunities are endless as the hospitality workers are high in demand.
  • The food and festivities – Everybody knows that even though one can get the food and celebrate the festivities in Australia, but for me, nothing beats what I get at home. The variety we get back home cannot be found elsewhere.
  • Finally, we would return because of a sense of commitment and responsibility to my family and home country and the bigger contribution I feel I would be able to make to my own society.

My circumstances in my home country clearly vouch for the fact that I have a genuine intention to temporarily stay in Australia until my studies are completed and then depart Australia. Apart from my circumstances, the financial background makes me ideal candidates to meet the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) criteria.

Therefore, I request the case officer to please grant me the student visa.

I assure the case officer that I have no intentions whatsoever to remain in Australia beyond the period of study and that I genuine intend to stay in Australia temporarily.

I look forward to your positive response very soon.

Yours sincerely,
